We have just this year (2005/7) created this site for folk interested in our ponies and Stranduff. We have constructed the site ourselves and would be grateful for feedback on any problems you have with the site. Any suggested improvements would be appreciated.

History of Stranduff Ponies (by Liz)

My late father Leslie Smith started keeping Shetland ponies at Stranduff over 50 years ago. Now my mother and family have upwards of 70 ponies, of nearly all colours and sizes from 28 to 38 inches.

The steep, stony slopes of Stranduff are ideally suited to Shetland ponies. Over the years Stranduff ponies have been exported to most Western European Countries including Scandinavia and even as far away as the USA.

We are happy to sell our ponies at home and foals are always for sale at Aberdeen and Northern Marts Thainstone Centre in October and frequently at Reading. Although we ourselves do not show our ponies, other people have shown Stranduff ponies very successfully.

2009 Foals

We have finally started to update the website with all of the foals born so far in 2009. This year has been a particularly good foaling, giving us more foals than we have had for many years. Hopefully we will be able to provide pictures of each foal, however if there is a foal that you are interested in without photos, or you would like to see more photos please do not hesitate to contact us.
